Sandburg to close ‘brick and mortar’ building in Bushnell

A local community college will be closing a building in the near future.

Carl Sandburg College officials reported yesterday that they will be closing their “brick and mortar” facility in Bushnell June 30th.

In a news release, President of Sandburg, Dr. Lori Sundberg says the school no longer holds any courses in the building and that the only use is for students taking online courses who do not have technology to use at home. Sandburg is looking into ways to provide extended technology at other local facilities.

Students taking dual credit courses through the school hold class at outlying high schools and are not expected to be effected.

Sundberg says the closure will allow Sandburg “to use those dollars more cost effectively in its delivery of education to that part of the district.”
