Assessor replacement hits council agenda tomorrow

Galesburg aldermen are expected to vote on the replacement of outgoing Township Assessor Darrell Lovell tomorrow night.

Midwest Appraisal Services owner Stephen Daly is slated for the appointment and would fill out the remainder of Lovell’s term which expires in December of 2017.

Lovell, who has served for the Town of the City of Galesburg for more than 30 years, will retire in August.

Over the course of his time in city government, he was elected Ward 3 alderman and appointed acting mayor in the 1970’s before becoming assessor in 1980.

In other news, council is expected to decide on a contract to sell water to the Village of Henderson. The sale would bring in $21,000 worth of annual revenue for the city.

Additionally, a provision to amend the liquor license code to include theatres will be decided upon. The amendment comes at the request of the Candy Box Theatre, who recently opened a location connected to Chez Willy’s to perform dinner theatre.

Council meets in City Hall at 6:30 p.m.
