Iron Spike continues growth, plans player’s lounge grand opening for Saturday

The Iron Spike Brewing Company has turned its second floor from a buffet area into a lounge featuring golf simulators.

The newly redesigned space also features pool tables and dart boards as well as a full bar.

The grand opening starts at 5 p.m. Saturday and customers can play a free round of golf on any course. The brewery will also give away hats, beer cozies, mugs and gift cards.

Owner Ryan Cardwell says the two golf simulators add a unique touch for customers because no one else in the immediate area has them.

“Right now, I believe they are in Bettendorf (Iowa) and East Peoria but they’re not the new technology, they’re not the newest simulators,” Cardwell says. “These simulators are the official PGA Tour simulators.”

Cardwell says people can call for a tee time any day between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. The lounge bar opens at 2 p.m. everyday.

A round of golf on the simulators is $35 dollars and takes about 3-to-4 hours to play through.

It’s not just the golf simulators that make the brewery unique. Iron Spike started canning beers for distribution at beginning of the year.

Cardwell says they started distributing locally and its territory has since grown so it reaches up to Wisconsin.

It also includes East Peoria and Washington.

The brewing company was recently listed as one of 21 best breweries in the state by Thrillist.com, as well.
