Board President Bob Lindstrom withdraws from 205 race

The graduating class of 2017 wasn’t even born when Bob Lindstrom was first seated on the Galesburg 205 School Board. But now the Galesburg attorney has set an end date to his board tenure. Lindstrom was running for his sixth term on the board, but the current Board President announced in an email Friday that he would be withdrawing his candidacy.

Without going into much detail Lindstrom says it has been an “honor and privilege” to serve as a board member and goes on to thank those who have supported him in his time on the board. This follows the withdrawal earlier in the week of board vice-president Josh Gibb to refocus on professional and family responsibilities. Lindstrom and Gibb were the last two remaining board members from the 2014 teacher’s strike and the only incumbents running.

Maury Lyon has already secured a seat as the only candidate remaining representing the outlying townships. Among the in-town candidates five remain. Two will win seats among the grouping of Gay Johnson, Kole Kenan, Isaiah Harlan, Vicki Banks and Rod Scherpe.
