Farmington’s Asplund to become District 205 Superintendent

5:55pm 5/2/17  WGIL’s Nick Ischer at the Galesburg School Board’s special meeting reports the board intends to finalize a contract with John Asplund, current Farmington Central Superintendent, to be the next superintendent of Galesburg District 205.

Asplund and Steven Wilder, Superintendent of Knoxville School District 202, were the two main candidates in the running for the job to replace Ralph Grimm, who is retiring at the end of the academic year.

The announcement of negotiations with Asplumd came at the start of a special school board meeting, which will also culminate with new members of the District 205 board being seated.
