Kid Rock says if he weren’t thinking of running for U.S. Senate, civil rights groups wouldn’t be protesting his shows opening up the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
The National Action Network’s Detroit chapter has called for the six shows, which start Tuesday, to be canceled because of Kid Rock’s use of the Confederate flag during past performances and his criticism of NFL player Colin Kaepernick for refusing to stand during the national anthem. The group also plans to protest at the first concert.
In a curse-filled post on his website, Rock says, “People! Pay NO attention to the garbage the extreme left is trying to create! (And by the way, [screw] the extreme left and the extreme right!)” He goes on to say that he is the “KING OF DETROIT LOVE” and that “My track record in Detroit and Michigan speaks for itself, and I would dare anyone talking trash to put theirs up against mine.” The post ends with “P.P.P.P.P.S. I LOVE BLACK PEOPLE!”
