Bustos endorses Nancy Rotering in Attorney General race

Congresswoman Cheri Bustos is throwing her support behind one of the candidates in a crowded field of Democrats vying to be Illinois’ next Attorney General.Bustos announced her endorsement today of Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering in the March primary.

The East Moline Democrat says she trusts Rotering to “stand up” to Republican Governor Bruce Rauner and Washington Republicans, citing her drive as a “working mom and skilled attorney.”

Rotering in a statement thanked Bustos for the support and said the two both prioritize “protecting working class families from the radical right’s anti-union agenda.”

Rotering is a two-term mayor of the Chicago suburb, Highland Park.

She unsuccessfully ran for U.S. Congress in 2016, losing in the primary to incumbent Rep. Brad Schneider.

Rotering faces seven opponents in the AG Democratic primary including former Gov. Pat Quinn and the man who represents Highland Park in the state General Assembly, Rep. Scott Drury.
