Throwback Thursdays are back at the Orpheum Theatre

Throwback Thursdays have returned to the Galesburg Orpheum Theatre – with a twist. Every Thursday for the next nine Thursdays, the Orpheum will be featuring a free movie through August 16th.  The twist: they are “people’s choice” movies that get selected via an online vote. The Disney movie Mulan is being shown today (June 21st) at 2:00 pm with another showing at 7:00 pm. Doors will open one hour prior to the movie – and Executive Director Kevin Maynard says while you’re watching the pre-show slides of upcoming shows: “You’re also able to get on your smartphone and vote for next week’s film.” Next week’s films are cult classics. “Those films that people will be voting on are: Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Clue, Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, and Army of Darkness.”  Visit www.slido.com and enter the keyword: “orpheum” to vote.  After next week’s Cult Classics, the following week will feature “’80s Action Adventure” movies. Following weeks themes include “Golden Age” movies, sequels, staff picks, family favorites, musicals, and the category: “Not Your Mama’s Drama”. The next week’s movie will be announced prior to each week’s showing. Sponsor F&M Bank is also providing free popcorn tonight (June 21st). In addition to Throwback Thursdays at the Orpheum, July 17th the theatre welcomes country music icon John Conlee to the stage.
