Man dies following recent car-pedestrian accident

UPDATED A Galesburg man has passed away, almost two weeks after an accident where he was hit by a moving vehicle.

Family members and friends say on social media that a man identified in Galesburg Police reports as 45-year-old Jason McGraw passed away this week while in the care of a Peoria hospital.

Police say the accident happened just before 9:30 pm December 21st at the intersection of Main and Chambers Streets. A vehicle driven by a man identified in police reports as Thomas Rogers changed lanes in order to avoid another vehicle stopped in that area. Police reports indicate McGraw made a move while in the intersection, and that led to the vehicle striking him.

McGraw suffered what police say was a skull fracture. Authorities say the driver of the vehicle involved wasn’t ticketed.

Family members say McGraw was an organ donor, and that so far, he will have saved five lives with his donations.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 5, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel at 11am.  A visitation is scheduled for Friday at H-P-W from 5-8pm.  The family is accepting memorial donations.
