Two Woodstock Festivals In Celebration Of The 50th Anniversary

Before Woodstock founder and producer Michael Lang announced plans for an official 50th anniversary celebration of the iconic festival in August, Live Nation announced a three-day Woodstock-related festival for the same weekend — August 16th, 17th and 18th — at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel, New York, site of the 1969 festival.

While we wait for Lang to announce his lineup for the same weekend in Watkins Glen, New York, Live Nation has  scaled it back to three separate events.

On Friday the 16th, Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band will headline with Arlo Guthrie, who played the original Woodstock, and Edgar Winteropening.

Then on Saturday it’s another Woodstock veteran, Carlos Santana and the Santana band, along with The Doobie Brothers, who are touring together with this summer. Carlos has been a longtime supporter of Lang and said he would perform at the official 50th. We’ll now have to wait and see as Lang promises to announce his initial lineup by the end of the month.

No word yet on the Sunday lineup at Bethel.
