Tom Petty Estate Feeling Friction

Photo Credit: Adam Bielawski / PhotorazziFor quite a while now there has been talk that the handling of Tom Petty’s estate was causing friction, and now the gloves are off. His two daughters from his first marriage are suing his widow, Dana.

Adria and Anna Kim claim his estate has been mismanaged and that Dana cost Petty Unlimited, the company the three of them formed after his death, more than $5 million.

Court documents claim that Dana and others have breached their fiduciary duties to the company by withholding certain assets and diverting them to another company she set up, Tom Petty Legacy LLC.

Dana filed documents last month requesting that all “significant decisions” require consensus between her and his daughters because majority voting would allow for the two daughters to exert their will over her. Dana says she has “gone above and beyond to seek to work cooperatively with Tom’s daughters,” but they have made that difficult.

Adria has now hired Irving Azoff to manage her dad’s affairs, while Tom’s longtime manager, Tony Dimitriades is reportedly in the process of retiring. Sources close to the estate say Petty was never a fan of Azoff, and others are saying Adria is a nightmare to deal with.

Petty died in 2017 from an accidental drug overdose. He was 66.
