Metallica Releasing A New Garage Inc.?

Photo Credit: Solarpix / PR PhotosMetallica have talked repeatedly over the past 20 years about a sequel to their 1998 covers collection Garage Inc. Now a new interview has brought that talk up again.

Lars Ulrich took a series of fan questions for a new Kerrang interview, and when one fan asked if there were plans for a Garage Inc. follow-up, Ulrich gave his shortest answer of the interview: “Wait and see.” Many fans have taken his clipped response to mean that something is in the works.

The original Garage Inc. featured a compilation of 1987’s The $5.98 E.P.: Garage Days Re-Revisited, plus 11 other previously released covers on one disc, with 11 newly recorded covers on the other disc. The group has released over a dozen covers since then, include a handful of Ramones songs, a medley of Ronnie James Dio tracks, and songs by Deep Purple, The Kinks and Iron Maiden.
