Summer Soirée: A Salvador Dali inspired evening of live art, auction, food and fun

An annual fundraiser event is this Friday to benefit free exhibition and arts education programming. The Galesburg Civic Art Center will host the Summer Soiree: A Night in the Forest of Fantasy at the Whitcomb Art Center on the Knox College Campus. The Soiree features a variety of art – some, part of a live auction; others, from emerging artists in a silent auction. “The Summer Soiree is an annual event that really raises funds for our free programming,” said Executive Director of the Galesburg Civic Art Center Tuesday Cetin. “So, activities like Standish Arts Market that’s coming up, First Fridays that we do twice a year, Great Balloon Races, and our free daily admission all year-round; it supports that programming. It’s really important for us to highlight what wonderful artists we have in the community.” Artists will also be on-hand demonstrating their work with acrylics, photography, oil, clay, fiber and more. Those that attend can interact with local artists throughout their creative process. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served. Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased at the Art Center or online on the center’s website. Doors open Friday at 6:00pm.
