Robert DeLeo Becomes Member Of The Doors, Kind Of

The three-CD and one-LP set has three previously unreleased songs from rehearsals for the album that feature the late keyboardist Ray Manzarek on vocals, including an early version of “Roadhouse Blues.”

DeLeo went in the studio and added bass parts to these tracks. (The Doors never had a bassist in their lineup. They used session players in the studio and organ pedals in concert.) DeLeo played with guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore at a tribute concert for Manzarek in 2016.

The reissue, which is due out October 18th, adds 11 other previously unreleased tracks, including three songs without the horn and string overdubs and new guitar parts from Krieger.
