Has the mystery behind Slipknot’s new percussionist — dubbed “Tortilla Man” because of his stage mask — been solved?
The band has refused to identify Chris Fehn’s replacement, but guitarist Jim Root said in a recent interview that the mystery man was “a world-class pianist.” That led a member of the Slipknot Reddit community, Les Connelly, to post his theory that the mystery man is multi-instrumentalist Michael Pfaff.
Pfaff is an Iowa native who played keyboards in Dirty Little Rabbits, the side project of Shawn “Clown” Crahan. Connelly’s theory is that Pfaff was introduced to Crahan years ago by Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson, which might explain why “Tortilla Man” has good onstage chemistry with Wilson and Crahan. And fellow Redditors have found that Pfaff’s family members are following the “Tortilla Man” hashtag on social media.
The band still won’t comment on who “Tortilla Man” is, so it might take a while for his identity to be confirmed.
