The New York City Medical Examiner has released the initial report following the death Sunday of Ric Ocasek.
The ME has ruled that his death was “caused by heart disease, specifically hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease; he also had a contributing condition of pulmonary emphysema. He died of natural causes.”
Ocasek was 75 and was discovered in his New York City home by his estranged wife, model Paulina Porizkova.
Ocasek’s family said that he’d been recovering from surgery, but didn’t specify what kind of surgery.
