Metallica Team Up With Billabong For Clothing Line

Metallica has teamed with surf and sportswear designer Billabong on a new clothing collection based on artwork from five of the group’s album covers.

The line will be rolled out in five product deliveries, each focused on the design of a different Metallica album. It will take place over the next six months, starting with the launch today (Tuesday) of merchandise based on the band’s self-titled 1991 album, a.k.a. The Black Album.

Guitarist Kirk Hammett says, “For myself, the exhilaration of heavy metal and the exhilaration of riding a wave are one and the same. The new collaboration reflects this incredible feeling.”

The collection includes “T-shirts and long sleeves crafted from 100 percent combed ring-spun cotton, boardshorts made from recycled plastics, hooded fleece, cotton corduroy jackets and full graphic-print neoprene wetsuits.” (Blabbermouth)
