Avoid the Bite: Mosquito Management

August 24, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Are you concerned about Zika, West Nile virus and other mosquito problems? University of Illinois Extension is offering a free session on managing the source of these diseases – mosquitos.

The program is offered in Henderson, Knox, McDonough & Warren Counties:

  • August 24 beginning 1 PM at the Galesburg Community Foundation, 246 E Main St #101, Galesburg, IL 61401.
  • August 24 beginning 4 PM at the Warren County Extension office, 1000 N. Main, Monmouth, IL 61462.
  • August 26 beginning 1 PM at Macomb City Hall, 232 E Jackson St, Macomb, IL 61455.

The annual threat of mosquito-borne disease builds in early summer and continues into the fall. The number of cases of West Nile has been higher, with about a dozen human deaths in Illinois each year. Meanwhile, the U.S. braces for the arrival of Zika virus. Chris Enroth, University of Illinois Extension Educator, will discuss how to control and cope with northern house mosquitoes, floodwater mosquitoes, and other mosquitoes to protect yourself and your community from bites and disease.

Cost for the session is FREE. Advance registration is needed. Phone or email the Knox County Extension office for more details, 309-342-5108, achriste@illinois.edu.
