Best Buddies Friendship Walk

Moved to the Ford Center for Fine Arts on the Knox College campus because of the potential for inclement weather

Help Best Buddies at Knox College raise money to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities! Best Buddies International is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). It is the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our programs help people with IDD form meaningful friendships with their peers, secure successful jobs, live independently, improve public speaking, self-advocacy and communication skills, and feel valued by society. At Knox College we are partnered with DD Homes to bring friendships to residents with IDD in the Galesburg and Abingdon communities. We match students in one-to-one friendships that foster caring and communicative relationships. We also strive to promote inclusion in the community by spreading awareness. All the funds of this walk will go to Best Buddies Illinois to promote the upkeep of current programs in the state and to create new programs.
