Police arrest four in meth bust

The Knox County jail is holding four suspects after their arrest yesterday on meth production charges.

Police reports show 45-year-old Jarred C. Fox and 43-year-old Barbara Ann Woods were arrested at their home in the 100 block of Duffield Avenue along with 28-year-old Samantha Jo Platz, of Knoxville, and 41-year-old Richard A. Norville, who had no listed address.

All four face Class X charges of meth production and possession of between 100 and 400 grams of meth — worth up to 40 years in prison — as well as lesser charges.

Officers noted a strong chemical smell coming from the residence in the early morning hours yesterday. Fox allowed police into his apartment where police found several active meth labs, containers with the completed drug and various items associated with meth production, including camping fuel, tubing, razors and syringes.

Norvell and Platz are held on $500,000 bond, Woods and Fox on $250,000. All four are scheduled to appear in court at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
