Galesburg police arrest Bolingbrook man for home invasion

A suburban-Chicago man is in custody on home invasion and residential burglary charges after officers responded over the weekend to reports of a West South Street break in.

Galesburg police reports show officers were dispatched Saturday morning to the 900 block of West South Street where a resident said she had been punched in the mouth by Dezrien E. Vance before he attacked her with a knife and made off with $40 and a cell phone.

The victim said Vance broke into the residence through her kitchen window in the early morning hours and the two began arguing. After punching her, the 26-year-old Bolingbrook man approached with a knife. The woman grabbed the blade and suffered a laceration to her right hand.

Officers observed a cut on the victim’s lip and an open wound on her hand.

Police pulled Vance over in the area of Harding and South streets. He faces charges of home invasion, residential burglary, felony domestic battery and damage to property. Home invasion carries a sentence of up 30 years in prison.

Judge Stephen Mathers continued Vance’s bond today at $200,000 and appointed a public defender.
