New GBA President wants to keep things “vibrant”

Amye Peterson in February officially became the new President of the Galesburg Business Association as Dennis Case stepped down.

Case who served in the position for almost 11 years is retiring from his business Casey’s Party Creations to move closer to family in Florida.

Peterson is an almost 9 year veteran of the GBA Board and became Secretary-Treasurer in 2008.

Kicking off her tenure as president she wants to focus on increasing board membership, saying it’s dwindled to essentially five people.

She tells WGIL that GBA members have put wind in the sails of events like the farmer’s market and Cafe in the Park.

“My focus is really just growing the board and growing our membership,”Peterson says. “Possibly face-lifting a couple of events.”

She has confirmed a fall festival is in the works but not whether it would be a return to the Scarecrow festival or something different.

And when it comes to the myriad of community events GBA is involved with she says it’s important to evolve.

“You’ve just got to keep things alive and vibrant and I really want to focus on that,” Peterson adds.

Professionally, Peterson is an assistant branch manager at IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union and previously did marketing with Prairie Radio Communications.
