Indiana man accused of providing false identity during pot bust

A new case has been opened against an Indiana man after evidence came to light that he had lied about his identity during his arrest earlier this month.

Darian T.D. Clemens was arrested March 7 when police stopped the 21-year-old suspect at the Galesburg Amtrak depot. He was found with 488 grams of pot in a backpack.

At the time of his arrest, he gave the name “Delon T. Breedlove,” which Assistant State’s Attorney Sabrina Stroops said was a false identity.

In addition to the original charges of possession of 30 to 500 grams of cannabis and possession of less than 15 grams of a controlled substance, Clemens now faces additional charges of obstructing justice and unlawful possession of ammo as a felon.

In court today, Stroops said the State’s Attorney’s Office was aware of the ammo in Clemens’s backpack, however, investigation later revealed the suspect had a prior felony conviction leading to the unlawful possession charge.

Clemens remains in the Knox County jail on $20,000 bond awaiting a March 21 preliminary hearing.
