Pregnant woman transported by life flight from wreck on I-74

Illinois State Police say a woman believed to be six months pregnant was transported by life-flight helicopter from the scene of a single-vehicle rollover on Interstate 74.

Trooper Jason Wilson tells WGIL a vehicle with six occupants swerved to avoid tire debris in the westbound lane of I-74 near mile marker 41. The vehicle lost control and veered into the east ditch where it rolled several times before coming to a stop on its wheels

All occupants were transported to nearby hospitals for nonlife-threatening injuries. Wilson says the pregnant woman was transported by life flight as a precaution.

The crash occurred after 2 p.m. and traffic was shut down for about an hour to make way for the helicopter and ambulances.

No names have been released at this time.
