Five Finger Death Punch At BSD

20160618_213337To wrap up my two-week hiatus from the air, I hung out with my son and a couple of buddies and their boys at Burlington Steamboat Days for the 5FDP show.  I was pleasantly surprised to find out that we were getting two for the price of one when Adelita’s Way was the opener!  They held their own in front of the mixed crowd of cowboys and rockers.  THEN, it was time for Ivan Moody and his crew to open up a can on the half-suspecting crowd of week-long ticket holders.

I say that because you could tell from gazing around that some were there just because they had purchased the week-long pass to get into every main stage event for the duration of the festival.  Little did some know that 5FDP did not play around!  They scorched through every “radio hit” that you hear us play on The Laser, including opening with “Lift Me Up”!

About halfway through the show, Ivan told the crowd that they had been instructed by the “fair committee” to not bring children up on stage as they normally do, to which he said they were going to do it anyway.  They, indeed, did commence to bringing up several kids ranging in age appearance from about 6 years old to mid teens.  (Of course the two teenage girls they brought up were on their phones “snapping or texting” the entire time.)

But, the younger ones, and their parents, were in for a shock when the band ripped into “Burn MFr, Burn  “.  (Of course without the sanitization of MF).

All  in all it was a great show!  I am glad to see the BSD Committee having the balls to bring a harder edge act like that, even if they were blindsided by the shear animalistic power of the band and the F-bomb dropping lead man.
