Tinkham murder suspect charged with aggravated battery in jail fight

An Alexis man who faces a felony residential burglary charge in the murder case of Dakota Tinkham has had his bond increased to $1.5 million following an altercation yesterday in the Knox County Jail.

Eighteen-year-old Charles Posey appeared via video this afternoon in Knox County Circuit Court where Judge Stephen Mathers issued the increase.

Assistant States Attorney Sabrina Stroops read aloud a narrative alleging Posey initiated a fight with another inmate, striking him multiple times and causing bodily harm.

Posey now faces an additional charge of aggravated battery. Mathers appointed a public defender in the case and scheduled Posey’s next court appearance for Wednesday at 11 a.m.

Posey is one of seven suspects allegedly involved in the shooting that killed Tinkham in March. Posey was indicted by a grand jury in April after originally facing home invasion and armed robbery for his role in the shooting.
