Monmouth-Roseville teacher arrested on child porn charges

A Monmouth-Roseville high school teacher was arrested Tuesday and is currently being held in the Warren County Jail charged with possession and dissemination of child pornography. Warren County Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at the residence of 50 year-old John Winebright yesterday in Kirkwood, after which he was placed into custody.

Winebright’s bond was set at $25,000.

The possession charge is a class 1 felony which carries a sentence of up to 5 years.

Dissemination of child pornography is a class 3 felony which can carry a max sentence of 15 years.

Monmouth-Roseville schools’ Superintendent Ed Fletcher says the district was notified by the Warren County State’s Attorney on Aug. 2 that Winebright was going to be charged with a serious crime “relating to child pornography.”

They directed the district to place Winebright on leave, which they have done.

Winebright is set to appear in Warren County Court before Judge Anthony Vaupel for a first appearance on Aug. 9 at 10 a.m.
An investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE: This story has been updated to reflect a statement released by Superintendent Ed Fletcher.
