East Main Street Hy-Vee installs ‘super hero’ parking for military and law enforcement

A special green parking sign now resides in the parking lot of the East Main Street Hy-Vee in Galesburg.

The grocery store has installed “super hero” parking in honor of active military, veterans and law enforcement like police, firefighters and EMT’s.

Local Hy-Vee management declined an interview with WGIL but posted on their Facebook page that the sign is to honor “real American heroes.”

The sign dons a picture of a waving American flag and gives those looking to park a prime spot not far from the store entrance.

Similar signs have been placed at a few Hy-Vee locations around the country, including one about an hour and twenty minutes from Galesburg in Muscatine, Iowa.

Not all think the sign is positive.

A Hy-Vee location in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa also placed a sign in their parking lot and were met with protest from some who felt the sign violated equal rights.
