Knoxville City Council approves TIF funds for veterinary clinic

Knoxville City Council members approved a TIF grant, amounting to as much as $40,000 for Knox Veterinary Service at their meeting last night.
Pennsylvania transplant Suzanne Harshbarger opened the veterinary clinic a few months ago at the location that used to house Gil Hebard Guns.

Facade work is currently being done with plans for more major renovations and the TIF money would cover a part of the project according to City Clerk Charlie Gruner.

Originally council had approved provisional zoning changes for the clinic to be at an office at 222 E. Main St. but the clinic has since have set up shop on the public square.

In other business health insurance premiums for City of Knoxville employees are going up.

Dan Hiett, Vice President of Insurance Services at John Graham Associates out of East Peoria was there to advise council on the rate increases.

Employees will pay about 11 percent more in their monthly premiums.
