Galesburg On Track collecting stories in phase two

What’s been known as Galesburg Heart and Soul is now branding itself Galesburg On Track and is in the second phase of the two-year four phase project.
Galesburg On Track says their goal is to bring a “cultural, social and economic vibrancy” to Galesburg through “community values and involvement.”

The first phase involved branding themselves which they’ve done in part with their name.

They’re also branding with their logo which was designed by a ten-year old girl who attends Costa.

Now they’re in the second phase which is all about storytelling, going out into disparate corners of the community and find out what people love about Galesburg and what they would leave behind.

Brittany Grimes is a part of the organization’s data team.

She tells Galesburg’s Evening News on WGIL that the data team is in charge of tracking who Galesburg On Track has reached and who it hasn’t.

“We’re able to do this through simple Excel spreadsheets, so we’re really trying to make sure we’re targeting the right people,” Grimes says. “Not only targeting the right people but targeting people we haven’t heard from, making sure that we’re targeting events, so programs that they maybe at, so we can hear their voices too. Because really what this is about is trying to be as inclusive as possible.”

Project Manager Deb Moreno says phase three will involve an overall “community driven” plan for Galesburg.

Finally phase four is when an action plan will be developed.
