Your weekend: Fests, cars and history all highlights

Abingdon, Bushnell, Knoxville and Bishop Hill. Each town has a slew of events available for your weekend.

Tonight, the Abingdon Community Festival continues with a figure 8 race at the city’s festival grounds. The A-Town gathering wraps up on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Town and Country Fall Festival has been going on in Bushnell since Wednesday. That festival continues through Sunday with live music and a 5K among other offerings.

Car lovers may want to make their way into Knoxville tomorrow night for the 12th annual cruise night. Event organizers promise a number of “specialty vehicles,” music, a 50/50 raffle and more.

Finally, history buffs can learn from character re-eanactors in Bishop Hill, tomorrow and Sunday.

Chautaqua will feature stories of immigrants and their impact on America. Jonas Olson, Laura Ingalls Wilder and “the Swedish nightingale” Jenny Lind will be represented. These are just a few of the events happening in our area this weekend.
