Finance Committee hears more concerns over Nursing Home

The Knox County Finance Committee – again – heard grievances from the Nursing Home union in regards to the finances of the Nursing Home.

Randy Lynch with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees spoke to committee members last night, demanding that they take the matters seriously.

Lynch also said that the county is still having issues with staffing as well.

Lynch said that the board should consider auditing the nursing home for the last five years to see how much money has been lost.

On the agenda last night was a remedy to prevent any future issues with the HVAC units at the Knox County Courthouse.

The committee discussed and approved a preventative maintenance agreement with Mechanical Services Inc.

With the agreement, MSI would be responsible for providing routine maintenance and inspections.

Board President Pam Davidson voiced her concern that MSI was the only bid that the county received for the maintenance. Board member Bob Bondi told the committee that MSI was the only company in the area certified to work on the HVAC units.

The committee approved the maintenance agreement for $5,315.

Additionally the board approved a handful of IT upgrades for 911, and telephone software upgrades at the courthouse, and for leasing farmland near the Nursing Home.
