Hundreds of teachers gearing up for WITCON this week

Hundreds of educators will be in Galesburg this week taking part in the 3rd year of WITCON.

WITCON stands for Whatever It Takes Conference and is designed for educators to learn about how to use technology and shift the culture of their classrooms.

The conference organized by District 205, Carl Sandburg College and ROEs 26 and 33 will take place from Wednesday to Friday, on the campuses of Sandburg and Lombard Middle School.

Sessions cover a lot of ground, from staying connected with other teachers to working coding into curriculum to social media uses.

Many of the presenters are teachers and administrators from the surrounding areas with presenters like Ralph Grimm, Gay Johnson and Matt Lingafelter but some are traveling a bit farther.

This year’s keynote speakers are Eric Sheninger, a Senior Fellow with the International Center for Leadership in Education and Dr. Katrina Keene, an international speaker with nearly 2 decades of experience in K-12 education.

The third keynote speaker will be the 2018 Illinois Teacher of the Year, Lindsey Jensen from Dwight Township High School.
