Is Galesburg Haunted? Find out Monday night

The Galesburg Public Library and the Galesburg Historical Society will once again set out to show you something longtime residents probably already figured: yes, Galesburg is, indeed, haunted.

The library’s annual “Ghosts of Galesburg Walk” through downtown steps off from the library Monday night (October 29) at 6:30.

“We aren’t going to actually haunted places,” says Patty Mosher, Galesburg Public Library archivist. “We stop at historic sites and we have an actor, a local person, who will portray a historic person in Galesburg.”

Mosher says the figures will attempt to answer questions about just what is, and isn’t, haunted in the downtown area.

“The first few years, we did go to some haunted places,” says Mosher. “We didn’t go in; we just had a ghost — person, an actual person — telling [participants] that they were the ghost there. But, we’ve run out of places. There’s a few more, but they’re too far away to make people walk.”

Mosher says participation in the Ghosts of Galesburg walk is free, and she says while tram rides are available, spots on the tram are full. The Galesburg Historical Society co-hosts the walk, and you can find out more information on it by CLICKING HERE.
