Steven Tyler Open To Returning To American Idol

Photo: PR PhotosIn 2011, Steven Tyler made headlines — and angered some of his Aerosmith bandmates — when he became a judge on American Idol.

Despite the flak from Joe Perry and fans who thought of it as a sell-out, Tyler tells Hollywood Life he’s open to returning to the show, which is now on ABC.

If he were asked to come back, he says, “Yeah, I’ll do it. I didn’t know what I was getting into doing American Idol… I’d never done TV, but to be able to show my personality without being in a rock band was something I had not done…”

Tyler left Idol after two seasons, saying it was time to get back to Aerosmith. But the band has only worked sporadically while Tyler recorded a country solo album and put together a side band.

In other Aerosmith-related news, Jimmy Crespo, the guitarist who filled in when Joe Perry quit in 1979, is out of the intensive care unit after falling and hitting his head.

And, eight Aerosmith songs have been babied on Lullaby Versions of Aerosmith. They are “Dream On,” “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” “Crazy,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Walk This Way,” “Cryin’,” “Amazing” and “Jaded.”
