The long-rumored massive Woodstock box set that includes every song performed at the original 1969 festival is due out August 2nd.
Woodstock – Back to the Garden: The Definitive 50th Anniversary Archive costs $800 and has 38 CDs with 432 tracks — and 267 of those are previously unreleased. There’s also a Blu-ray of the Director’s Cut of the Woodstock film, a replica of the original program and a Woodstock hardbound book by promoter Michael Lang. Only 1969 copies of the box will be made. For those looking for a smaller piece of the original festival, there’s also a 10-CD version, a five-LP version and a three-CD version.
Many acts didn’t want to release their entire sets in the past, but gave approval for this set since starting in January any unreleased performances or recordings from 1969 will go into the public domain and can be legally sold in Europe. Artists included in the massive box are Santana, Grateful Dead, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, Sly and the Family Stone, The Who, Jefferson Airplane, Joe Cocker, Ten Years After, The Band,Blood, Sweat and Tears, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and Jimi Hendrix.
