Uncashed Kurt Cobain Royalty Check Found At Store

Photo Credit: PhotorazziA record store in Seattle found an uncashed royalty check written out to Kurt Cobain of Nirvana in a collection of items it has had in storage since the ’90s.

The staff of Easy Street Records noticed the $26.57 check from BMI dated months before Nevermind was released while recently going through the collection. They posted it on Instagram with the caption, “We’re guessing the next royalty checks were a bit larger.”

Store owner Matt Vaughan tells NME the collection included a number of Nirvana tour itineraries. When they original purchased it, “We looked through ‘em a little, but just put ‘em in storage. Seemed like every band in Seattle had tour itinerary books…wasn’t uncommon to run across one.” They also found a money order payable to Cobain’s landlord, a backstage pass and a doctor’s bill.
