Parole officer charged with official misconduct, sexual assault

A parole officer with the Illinois Department of Corrections will be back in Knox County Circuit Court next week for a preliminary hearing regarding allegations of official misconduct and sexual assault.

Two warrants were obtained for 52-year-old Garrick L Randolph on Wednesday, October 23, for two counts of Custodial Sexual Misconduct and two counts of Official Misconduct. Both charges are class three felonies.

On August 12th, Galesburg Police officers were advised by a 34-year-old woman that Randolf was making lewd comments towards her, and allegedly touched her and forced himself on her.

Police reports indicated that tests showed she was in a consensual relationship with Randolf, but she told police that she was “playing it off” because of his position as her parole officer.

The following day, August 13th, Galesburg Police notified the Illinois State Police of the allegation against Randolph.

On October 23rd, ISP’s Division of Internal Investigations obtained the warrants from the Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office. Randolph voluntarily reported to GPD where he was arrested.

He was held in the Knox County Jail on a $75,000 bond that he posted that same day and was released. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12.

The Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office has indicated they will support additional charges should additional victims be located. If anyone has information related to these crimes, you are encouraged to contact the ISP DII at (847) 294-4466.
