City releases meal plan pick-up for District 205

With last week’s announcement of all District 205 schools remaining closed until March 31st, the District, along with the Knox County United Way and the Knox County YMCA have partnered to provide food for students in need. Meal pick-up began Monday, March 16th and will continue on weekdays from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. There are five sites locally and they are:

  • Cedar Creek Hall at 1598 McKnight
  • Woodland Bend at 480 Iowa Avenue
  • Whispering Hollow at 1064 West South Street
  • Faith United Methodist Church at 876 East Knox Street
  • Bethel Baptist Church at 1196 North Academy Street.

The Knox County Emergency Management Agency continue to closely monitor developments regarding the Coronavirus, including information from the Centers for Disease Control and the Illinois Department of Public Health. The City is in daily contact with the Knox County Health Department. As of Monday, March 16th, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Knox County. In a news release, Emergency Management Coordinator Randy Hovind said, “….we are now feeling the impact of this global pandemic in how we live our daily lives. These changes may be overwhelming and concerning to many, but the City of Galesburg is prepared to continue delivering services to our residents and businesses during this time of uncertainty.” At this time, City buildings will remain open for business and our City Council will continue to meet as scheduled. As you continue to monitor the situation, remember to seek out reputable sources of information. Intergovernmental partners at local schools, the Knox County Health Department, healthcare providers, and others are working diligently to provide information about operation changes. If you have questions, go directly to the source of information instead of relying on social media or unverified accounts.
