Stay informed on local businesses’ altered hours and services

On a typical Friday, WGIL will announce local and area events, performances, concerts, festivals, dinners, and meetings.

With the spread of COVID-19, and the closing of most non-essential government offices, schools, colleges, bars, as well of the closing of restaurants to dine-in customers, nearly all activities during “your weekend” have been either canceled or postponed.

Many local eateries have changed hours or services in an effort to cater to new, and temporary state-mandated rules and regulations.

Owner of the Landmark, Phil Dickinson tells WGIL that we’re in this together.

“We’d like to say thank you to everybody who’s been out supporting every business during this time. We are in this together. So, it’s going to be a process of Galesburg helping Galesburg, supporting each other and helping everybody during this tremendous time of unknown. I think as more information comes out and becomes more clear we’re all going to feel much better because there is enough information to know where you’re at and where we have to go.”

Dickinson says that the amount of support he’s seen from the community has been amazing.

“This town has always, ultimately, pulled together. We’re seeing it in a lot of different ways right now with the restaurants. This completely turned their worlds upsidedown starting Sunday at 3:30 in the afternoon. The amount of support has not been surprising but it’s been amazing to see. And, we appreciate what we’ve seen so far.”

In an effort to serve local businesses, and to keep the public updated on local businesses’ reduced hours and limited access to their products and services, listings of changes to local businesses are available HERE.
