Taste of Galesburg canceled for 2020

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the governor’s official announcement of the five-phased “Restore Illinois” plan, it appears the Taste of Galesburg has been canceled for this year.

In a letter from Kraig Boynton and Deb Cratty, Co-Event Chairs of the Taste, the committee has monitored the Coronavirus pandemic in our state in an attempt to anticipate the necessary precautions and guidelines that might have to be followed by the July event.

The committee has made the tough decision to err on the side of caution and cancel the event for this year as the region that Knox County is in would be required to be in phase five for the event to occur.

The letter says, “although we will not be able to have the Taste of Galesburg experience in a traditional manner in 2020, be on the lookout for a ‘Non-Traditional Taste of Galesburg’ experience in late July.”

Over the month of May, the committee will be working through details of this new experience in an attempt to provide a little normalcy to the community by celebrating the many food varieties that are in the area.

Both Boynton and Cratty say they look forward to returning to a normal Taste of Galesburg format in 2021.
