Dates have changed for property tax payments due to COVID-19

Government offices and schools are closed, but they are still operating. And that means they still need your property tax dollars to operate. But, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Knox County Treasurer’s Office says you will have a little more time to pay your property taxes this year.

Treasurer Robin Davis’ office says while property tax bills are being mailed on Thursday of this week, the first installment won’t be due until July 15th, and the second payment won’t be due until September 15th.

The office says because of business closures and the Governor’s stay-at-home orders, numerous residents have expressed concerns about being able to pay, so the Knox County Board authorized more time.

The treasurer says she strongly recommends mailing payments in. But, they can be paid online by CLICKING HERE, by calling toll-free 1-888-449-5748, at most Knox County banks except Wells Fargo, and at the drop boxes on the Knox County Courthouse property.

Davis’ office says if you don’t get your property tax bill by May 30th, call her office as soon as possible.
