Sundberg Talks New Book: Legacy Playbook

Galesburg native and former Major Leaguer Jim Sundberg has a new book out. Sundberg, also a former Iowa Hawkeye, spent 35 years total in Major League Baseball – 16 as a player with the Rangers, Royals, Cubs and Brewers, a World Series Champion in 1985 with the Royals, a 6-time gold glove winner, a 3-time American League All-Star, Senior Executive Vice President of baseball for the Rangers from 2004 to 2014, and the author of the book published in 2000: “How to Win at Sports Parenting.” His new book: “Legacy Playbook: 50 Days of Encouragement To Pass On What Matters Most” is available online on Amazon.com and on his website Jim Sundberg.com. Of his new book, Sundberg says it’s a 50-day devotional with both personal stories and MLB stories. “There’s fifty stories in there that go from childhood in Galesburg to Major League Baseball,” Sundberg told WGIL. “Each story, each day is meant to be an encouragement and has a particular topic on one thing or another. I talk about passion, leadership….I tried to blend my faith and do something different that you (would) normally what you see in a baseball book.” He said the devotional piece in the book allows people to “work through and determine what matters most to them.” Sundberg said it’s a good time in today’s world for people to do a little research and introspection given everything that’s going on in the world today. He added that this was the book that he’s wanted to write all along.
