Two juveniles arrested in connection with gun store robbery

Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with several firearms that were stolen from a local business earlier this month.

Galesburg Police responded on  Thursday, June 11, to an apparent robbery at Simpson Limited, a downtown gun store that specializes in firearms for collectors.

Officers responded to the shop at 140 S. Seminary at 3:30 a.m. in relation to a burglar alarm being sounded and noticed several damaged cases that contained firearms.

They then cleared the building but didn’t locate any subjects.

Detectives were able to obtain surveillance video of people entering the building and leaving with firearms, which they put into a vehicle that was parked in the area.

After working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Peoria Police Department, the two minors were arrested on June 18.

One is facing burglary charges, the other is being charged with burglary and theft.

Because the suspects are minors their identity is being concealed from the public, and it’s not clear whether the two are Galesburg residents.
