Knox County sees 16 new COVID cases in 24 hours

The Knox County Health Department says there have been 16 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in the county since Thursday, the same amount confirmed for all of last week.
This now brings Knox County’s total of cases to 216, after one previously reported case was transferred to the person’s county of residence.
That equates to 45 cases over the past 10 days or an increase of 25 percent.

This also comes after Wednesday when a woman in her 70’s was declared the first Knox County to have died of complications from the coronavirus.

One of today’s 16 new cases includes a male infant, under the age of 1.

Health officials urge residents to contact your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning that include fever, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath among others.
Curbside testing for COVID-19 is open to anyone, regardless of symptoms or other criteria, including at the Health Department.
