2nd Knox County COVID death confirmed; male in his 90’s

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced Thursday that a male resident of Knox County in his 90’s has passed away from complications related to COVID-19.

The Knox County Health Department has yet to confirm the death.

The deceased is the only person in their 90’s to have contracted COVID-19 in the county, and according to KCHD releases the earliest that he would have tested positive was Saturday.

This is the second death of a Knox County resident related to the coronavirus.

As of Thursday afternoon, IDPH numbers show that Knox County has 285 confirmed cases, 20 more than were confirmed by Knox County officials on Tuesday.

That means Knox has confirmed about half of last week’s number of new cases, just in the past two days.

WGIL will bring you more details as they become available.
