New cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in Knox County.
According to county health officials, 31 new cases of Coronavirus disease have been reported between Tuesday and Thursday, September 15-17.
With that, the total positive cases in the county since the start of the pandemic reached 564.
New cases include:
- 5 Females 10s
- 8 Male 10s
- 4 Females 20s
- 1 Male 20s
- 2 Females 30s
- 2 Male 30s
- 5 Females 40s
- 1 Female 50s
- 1 Male 50s
- 2 Males 60s
The Health Department says they’ve been investigating outbreaks occurring in businesses and offices, restaurants, large and small family gatherings, as well as several new occurrences related to school sports teams.
“We have been fortunate thus far,” said Erin Olson, Public Information Officer for the health department, “outbreaks mostly have occurred in environments where individuals are seen by appointment, or the individuals testing positive have been able to provide a list of participants, appointment, or attendees.”
The health department says the number of individuals currently considered recovered stands at 89.7% (506) of the total 564 positive cases reported as recovered, 9.2% (52) reported as recovering at home, and three individuals currently hospitalized and three total deaths as of the end of day Thursday.
KCHD adds that positive cases have been identified geographically throughout Knox County; with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reporting 69.5% of all Knox County cases residing in Galesburg, 9.2% in Knoxville, 4.2% in Abingdon, 2.6% in Dahinda, 1.7% in Oneida, 1.2% in East Galesburg, 1% in Victoria, 1% in Williamsfield, and 9.2% in the remaining areas of the
County.
