Galesburg man arrested Sunday on drug charges and more.

Sunday, September 20th, Galesburg Police was in a routine patrol in the area of North Seminary and East Losey Streets when they saw a vehicle driven by 31-year old Briton Carruthers of Galesburg. Police knew Carruthers to not have a valid driver’s license. After stopping the vehicle, police made contact with Carruthers and placed him under arrest. While doing a search of his person, police discovered a vile of what field-tested positive for methamphetamine. According to police reports, inside the vehicle was a Sentry safe that Carruthers claimed was purchased from a garage sale. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, and inside the safe were syringes – some used, some new, a couple of metal spoons with residue, and another pill container with what field-tested positive for meth. Carruthers was under arrest for Driving While License is Suspended, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Meth Possession less than 5 grams, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
