Greta Van Fleet’s Namesake Isn’t A Fan Of Their Music

The woman who inspired Greta Van Fleet‘s name is not a fan of the type of music the Michigan quartet makes.

Gretna Van Fleet, an 88-year-old retired office manager, tells the Detroit Free Press, “It’s not my favorite music, and the boys know that. But I think they’re very talented, and I support them… I didn’t think it would last long — they wouldn’t hang onto this crazy name.”

Gretna is a musician herself who plays the violin, dulcimer and drums, and has become a bit of celebrity in her town of Frankenmuth, Michigan because of the band. “Every day, out in town, somebody will stop me. People are so excited to meet me… It’s amazing how many friends I have now. It’s been incredible. The family are supportive, and they think it’s fun.”
