James Hetfield’s Acting Debut Coming To Netflix

James Hetfield’s film-acting debut is headed to Netflix.

The Hollywood Reporter says the streaming giant paid $9 million for the rights to Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, which had its premiere at Sundance last month. The Metallica guitarist plays a police officer who happens to do a routine traffic stop of serial killer Ted Bundy, who’s played by Zac Efron. Netflix plans to release the film in theaters this fall in the lead-up to awards season.

The deal isn’t that surprising, since Netflix is already streaming director Joe Berlinger’s documentary series Conversations With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes.
